The Zugspitze, at 2,962 m (9,718 ft), is the highest mountain in Germany. It lies south of the German town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the border between Germany and Austria runs over its western summit. The trip to the top of the Zugspitze costs 41,50 € (2013) per Person with the "Bayerische Zugspitzbahn Bergbahn AG". As I was with a group of four, we decided not to take the German Zugspitzbahnhof in Garmisch-Partenkirchen but the Austrian "Tiroler Zugspitzbahn" in Ehrwald for 37,50 € per person. It was also a few kilometers closer to my hometown, so I saved time and money. The 3,600 meter long cable car climbs 1,725 meters in altitude over just 3 pylons. The 2 panoramic cabins, which are 6.9 by 3.3 meters in size, can transport 100 passengers. They cover the distance of 1,725m in altitude in just 10 minutes. Here are some of my photos. Unfortunately I had no camera with me, so I shot with my Samsung Galaxy S3 only and I am quite satisfied with the result:
